Langhorne, PA, June 6, 2011 – ISS Solutions, a Geisinger Health System company dedicated to the delivery of comprehensive clinical engineering and specialized IT services to clients throughout the United States, announced today the acquisition of the Strategic Asset Technology Services (STATServices) Division of Rhode Island-based medical technology company XRI®. STATServices executive Frank Rubino joins ISS Solutions as Regional Vice President, Northeast, where he will focus on growth and service excellence in the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions. ISS Solutions and XRI have also signed a collaboration agreement where the two companies will work together to deliver comprehensive biomedical and imaging services to healthcare providers in New England.

Peter Brooks, CEO of ISS Solutions, stated, “ISS Solutions and XRI share a clinical engineering services heritage extending back more than 35 years. Both companies share a commitment to developing long-term relationships with clients and delivering outstanding services. We are proud to continue XRI’s shared values and tradition of service excellence through our acquisition of STATServices and our new collaboration with XRI.” The acquisition of STATServices supports ISS Solutions’ strategy to expand its service area throughout the Eastern United States. The company, headquartered in Pennsylvania, currently serves clients in 22 states from Minnesota to Maine to Maryland.

Frank Rubino's career in the medical equipment industry began in the mid-1970s when he worked within the specialty engineering group of American Optical Medical Division. There he was involved in the design, fabrication and installation of computerized arrhythmia monitoring systems. Mr. Rubino entered field service in 1979 as a Regional Manager for American Optical and remained in clinical engineering service over the years, working with companies such as Picker International, TRW Medical Electronics and AMSCO Medical Electronics. In 1992 Mr. Rubino and two partners, including Richard Ernst, then and current President and owner of XRI, began Affiliated Clinical Engineering Services, Inc. (ACES). Mr. Rubino served as President and CEO of ACES for 12 years, growing it into the region’s largest independent clinical engineering service provider. In 2004, ACES was acquired by a national company. In 2009, Mr. Rubino reentered the clinical engineering field, forming the STATServices Division of XRI.

About joining ISS Solutions as Regional Vice President, Northeast, Mr. Rubino stated, “The acquisition of STATServices by ISS Solutions is a perfect combination of the synergy between the companies. The operating model is very similar to that of the former and highly successful ACES; it delivers comprehensive depth and breadth of services in both clinical engineering and diagnostic imaging modalities. Our existing and future clients will greatly benefit by having a strong and thoroughly proven provider of clinical engineering and diagnostic imaging equipment services. I am excited and enthused to bring our expanded services portfolio to healthcare providers throughout the Northeast.”

Mr. Brooks further stated, “Service transition for existing STATServices clients will be smooth. Not only are all STATServices employees joining the ISS Solutions team, but also we are pleased that Frank Rubino has joined us in a leadership position, and that XRI will collaborate with ISS Solutions in New England. Frank’s and XRI’s knowledge of the industry and relationships with healthcare organizations in the New England area are appreciated and valued.”

Richard Ernst, President of XRI noted, “I have the utmost confidence in Frank Rubino’s ability to deliver outstanding services to ISS Solutions’ and XRI’s joint healthcare clients in New England. I partnered with Frank to create ACES, where we built an organization that implemented scores of resident-based clinical engineering programs. Now, by collaborating with ISS Solutions in New England, Frank and ISS Solutions and XRI are combining resources to continue the ACES tradition.”
